Chemical Peels

We offer a wide variety of chemical peels for all skin types and conditions. Chemical peels improve skin tone, texture and hyperpigmentation, while increasing collagen and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  You and your aesthetician will discuss your goals and how you can achieve them with chemical peels at JEM Medspa.  Most of our peels can be tailored to your skin type and skin issues.

CHEMICAL PEELS $105 to $135

Our chemical peels range from mild resurfacing, to deeper exfoliation. We will tailor your skin concerns to the peeling agent that will provide the results you desire. Choose from Glycolic, Salicylic, or Jessner, orMandelic peels.

Light or superficial peels penetrate into the outermost layers of the skin’s surface and stimulate the growth of new epidermal skin cells and the production of collagen, allowing for tighter, brighter skin.

Medium peels penetrate into the upper part of the dermis, eliminating sunspots, as well as the brown discoloration known as age or liver spots.

Deep peels penetrate into the deepest part of the dermis to rearrange collagen, melanocytes and other support structures of the skin.

Every patient and every peel is different, so each chemical peel treatment will be different.

After prep work is done, peels are applied, and we’ll watch your skin to determine when it should be removed. After your peel is removed, skin can be treated with cold compresses, creams and lotions, depending on your particular treatment.

Here are some post-treatment tips:

  • Use moisturizer to keep skin moist. If skin dries too much, it can scar or crack.
  • Don’t scratch or rub treated areas. This can lead to infection.
  • Avoid indoor tanning.
  • Use sunscreen as advised.

You should see results after skin heals. Recovery time varies depending on the type of peel you received. For some patients it can be one day, for others it can be longer.

Results are not supposed to be permanent and many patients return for follow-up treatments.

Side effects are generally mild, but again, this depends on the patient and the type of peel performed.

Some patients may experience:

  • Skin redness.
  • Some temporary skin darkening.
  • Skin lightening.

Most of our patients experience no significant side effects and enjoy maintaining their results with a series of peels.  Patients who do not follow post-treatment instructions are far more likely to experience side effects. You risk developing post-treatment problems if:

  • You do not properly protect skin from sun exposure.
  • Scratch or pick at treated skin.
  • Use makeup too soon.

But in the vast majority of cases, patients have no post-treatment problems and peels have been performed safely and effectively for more than half a century. Chemical peels are safe for people of varying skin colors and types.
