Thread Lift

What is the PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment which lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin and produce 3 primary effects on the skin:

  1. Instant skin lifting through mechanical effects.
  2. Cellular Renewal, through Collagen stimulation, and neovascularization to improve skin texture, fine lines and elasticity.
  3. Skin Tightening, by contracting fat tissue.

About 9 months after the procedure, the PDO threads will disappear through simple hydrolysis (they are absorbable). The lifted facial contours will remain for about 3-6 months more, due to the cellular rejuvenation effects. Your skin cells are stimulated to produce new collagen, and new blood vessels to improve skin microcirculation. At the same time, the PDO threads cause the fat tissue to contract, producing a skin tightening and facial slimming effect.

How is PDO Thread Lift Done?

The procedure uses a minimally invasive technique to achieve desired results. Your provider will use a local numbing agent to minimize discomfort. The PDO threads are inserted via a needle into different layers of the skin. Once inserted, the threads anchor the skin and lift it upwards.

What Areas Can Be Treated with PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO thread lift is very versatile, allowing many areas of the face to be treated, including the following: cheeks, nasolabial folds, jaw line, jowls and neck. The cheeks and lower face, in particular, benefit greatly from the procedure, allowing a lift which is comparable to other skin lifting treatments such as SkinTyte or Ultherapy.

What Results Can I Expect After the Treatment? How Long Do They Last?

Your skin is immediately lifted after a PDO thread lifting procedure, as the threads provide support to lift skin in its new position.

The regenerative effects result in 1-2 months where you will notice better skin texture, and firmer & smoother skin.

Approximately 9 months after treatment, the threads will have dissolved, but the results will still continue for many more months. We recommend repeating the procedure at yearly intervals for optimal results.

Who is a Candidate for the PDO Thread Lift Procedure?

The PDO Thread Lift treatment is suitable for anyone looking to improve the appearance of sagging skin. This treatment provides an immediate lift of the facial contours without undergoing surgery. It is best suited for men and women who want a natural, lifted and refreshed appearance.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

Depending on the areas treated, the procedure takes 30-45 minutes.

Before & After the Procedure Considerations:

Like other treatments involving injections, avoid: alcohol, aspirin, and supplements such as Vitamin E, Fish Oils, Turmeric, and Gingko Biloba for 1-2 days before and after the procedure; Avoid High Intensity exercise for several days following the procedure; you are also discouraged from undergoing any dental treatment (which requires you to open your mouth excessively and may increase chances of infection) two weeks before & after your procedure.

What are the Possible Side Effects?

This treatment is extremely safe and poses only minor potential side-effects, including, but not limited to:

  • Bruising
  • Mild swelling and/or soreness for 5-7 days after the procedure
  • Sensation of “tightness” of up to two weeks
  • Temporary, mild skin dimpling of the skin, which will resolve in several days

Less Common:

  • Surface depressions
  • Thread migration or extrusion
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Prolonged pain
  • Prolonged dimpling of skin
  • Infection
  • Nerve damage
  • Nodule formation
