At JEM Medspa, we have effectively performed the Vampire Facelift® procedure on thousands of satisfied patients. With team members serving as National Trainers and Faculty members for the Cellular Medicine Association (CMA), the founders of the Vampire procedures, we are considered experts in this regenerative medicine procedure.
What is the Vampire Facelift®?
The Vampire Facelift® is a procedure that combines injectable hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, such as Juvederm® or Restylane® products, with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), components of your own blood, into one procedure. The PRP/PRFM and the dermal filler supplement each other to give the best final outcome for a more youthful looking face. The dermal filler of choice helps give shape and structure and fills specific lines and folds. PRP/PRFM improves overall volume, fullness, and skin tone. PRP/PRFM acts to improve overall quality, tightness, and texture of the skin rather than filling individual deeper wrinkles.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) & Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM)
What Are They? How Do They Rejuvenate Skin?
PRP/PRFM contains your own body’s platelets suspended in plasma. The platelets contain hundreds of growth factors which your body uses naturally during the healing process of injuries. When we concentrate the platelets, and thereby the growth factors, into a small amount of plasma, we get PRP or what some consider “liquid gold”. The growth factors work to stimulate collagen and elastin in the skin to tighten the skin and correct skin damage creating smoother skin, texture and tone. PRFM is an even further development which produces a fibrin mesh that sustains the platelets to the area injected to provide continued growth factor release over a longer period of time vs PRP, thus even further enhancing the benefits of the treatment. At JEM Medspa, we use PRFM to promote even greater benefits than PRP and the process still remains very simple.
The History & Safety of PRP/PRFM
PRP/PRFM has a long history of being safely used in orthopedic medicine, dentistry, and reconstructive surgery, and now its benefits are being applied to other fields of medicine such as aesthetics. Scientific studies dating back 30 years have documented that PRP/PRFM grows new collagen when injected into the skin, and newer studies show that PRP/PRFM softens sun damage and improves aging skin issues.
Vampire FaceLift® FAQ’s
Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane® and Juvederm® , are composed of solid material that fills lines and skin folds. These fillers are indicated to soften deeper lines such as the folds around the mouth area, or to plump lips. They usually last from 6-18 months; repeated treatments are required to fill the area again.
PRP/PRFM stimulates your own collagen to grow for total facial rejuvenation rather than individual wrinkle improvement. PRP/PRFM is used for volumizing faces that are beginning to look drawn, to plump out cheek indentations, soften under eye hollows , improve the skin tone, tightness, and texture, and fill in areas where hyaluronic acid fillers cannot reach or are not safe to use, and texture of the skin rather than filling individual deeper wrinkles.
A small amount of blood will be drawn from you. While the PRP/PRFM is being prepared, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the treatment. The injections take a approximately 15 minutes, and are only mildly uncomfortable – patients often describe a tingling sensation upon injection. The entire procedure will take approximately 45 minutes.
Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur. The PRP/PRFM is made from your own cells, virtually eliminating the possibility of negative side effects.
The goal of PRP/PRFM skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin, soften lines and pores. Results begin to show 4-6 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 1-2 months apart, to achieve the best outcome.
PRP/PRFM therapy can be combined with other anti-aging therapies such as laser treatments, chemical peels, dermal fillers and neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport) to best target a patient’s unique issues to achieve the final goal of younger looking skin. Maintenance PRP/PRFM treatments should be performed over time.
