Kim Randazzo:
Hi. My name is Kim Randazzo. I am a licensed aesthetician. I've worked both in the medical and spa settings for over 10 years. Some of the treatments that I perform here at JEM are medical grade facials, chemical peels, microneedling, dermaplaning and CoolSculpting. Today, we're going to talk about chemical peels, what they do, who they're good for. So chemical peels are a cosmetic treatment that we use specific acids on the skin, and they help overall tone and texture. They help to lighten and brighten pigmented spots, dark spots. Some of them are good for acne, and they also help to soften superficial fine lines, and they stimulate the collagen that is beneath the skin surface.
Kim Randazzo:
I always tell my patients, don't let the word chemical peel or acids scare you, because most of what the acids are derived from are malic acids, which are the citric acids or lactics, which are milk. We have the mandelic acid, which comes from bitter almonds, the salycilic, which comes from the bark of a willow tree. So I always try to tell patients, please don't let that scare you. Pictures are worth a thousand words. So to be able to show a patient a picture and go back and say, "This is where we started, this is where we are," is incredible.
