What is KYBELLA?

In both men and women, even a little bit of extra fat in the upper neck area can create a "double chin." The unwanted pockets of fat beneath the chin (submental area) are caused by aging, genetics, or weight gain. These different factors can lead to a less defined profile. At JEM Medspa, our team is happy to provide a revolutionary treatment that eliminates neck fat. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), KYBELLA is a new nonsurgical procedure for upper neck fat. The active ingredient in KYBELLA is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid (DA) that works like the natural DA in your body. DA helps dissolve and absorb fat cells. After we inject it beneath the chin, you may see a visible decrease in the volume of fat. When the fat is removed, the cells will not return so you can enjoy your new slender profile for years to come.

What are the benefits of KYBELLA?

Numerous individuals have a hard time liking their face and chin. KYBELLA procedures at our facilities might help produce a jawline you are good about, as well as additional advantages like:

  • Hardly any recovery time after injections
  • Noninvasive alternative to surgical procedures
  • Fast visits that go together with your busy agenda
  • Fast-acting results that give you the facial appearance you've always dreamed of

Am I a good candidate for kybella?

The best candidates for KYBELLA injectable treatments have excess fat in the upper neck (submental area), which causes unwanted fullness or a double chin. This injection addresses stubborn pockets of fat that are hard to remove with normal weight loss treatments because of genetics, aging, or other conditions. If you are near your goal weight, but you still have trouble eliminating neck fat, KYBELLA could help you meet your cosmetic goals. While KYBELLA reduces small or moderate pockets of fat in the upper neck, larger pockets may require surgical neck liposuction. We will recommend the best treatment options for you during your consultation.

how do Kybella Injections work?

After a comprehensive consultation, we will perform your KYBELLA injections in one of our spacious treatment rooms. We start by cleaning your skin to remove any oil or lotions. If preferred, we can apply a numbing gel to the treatment area. Usually, the appointment lasts around 15 – 20 minutes, which includes several small injections that target the submental area. Some patients may require a single treatment to attain their desired goal while others may require additional treatments at three weeks apart.

What should I Expect after kybella?

Once your KYBELLA treatment is complete, you can leave our office when you feel comfortable enough to resume your daily activities. At first, you may experience temporary numbness, bruising, or swelling underneath your chin. These side effects should not last longer than 2 – 3 days. If you notice any unusual side effects, please call JEM Medspa immediately! Negative side effects may include facial muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, or uneven facial expressions. While the eliminated fat cells do not return, the ones that remain can become larger. We highly recommend maintaining a stable weight, which helps prevent new pockets of fat from forming. After your KYBELLA injections, your neck should appear slimmer and tighter, and your profile will look more defined.

KYBELLA FAQ

How much does KYBELLA cost?
The price of KYBELLA treatments will depend on how many appointments you need. During your consultation, a customized KYBELLA treatment plan will be created to work with your budget and goals. A member of our team can also talk about payments we accept in your first appointment.

How does KYBELLA work?
The active ingredient in KYBELLA, deoxycholic acid, works to break down fat cells in the submental area. Once they are destroyed, these cells will not grow back. Therefore, additional KYBELLA injections should not be needed once you have reached your desired outcome.

Can KYBELLA be used to treat other areas of the body?
Currently, KYBELLA can only be used to treat the upper neck. KYBELLA has been proven to effectively reduce the fat in the upper neck that creates the appearance of a double chin. KYBELLA hasn't been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for any other areas of the face or body.

Am I eligible for a KYBELLA treatment?
There are a few factors that could make you ineligible to receive a KYBELLA treatment. You must be at least 18 years old, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and cannot have any infection in your neck. Before the process begins, you are encouraged to share any health concerns and your medical history with your injector so that they can determine if you may be at risk for an adverse reaction from the treatment.

How many treatment sessions will I need?
In your consultation, a personalized treatment plan will be tailored to match your goals. Usually, patients get between 2 – 4 KYBELLA treatments to achieve their goals. KYBELLA injections need to be made around 30 days apart. You shouldn't get more than six injections.

Should I get KYBELLA over other injectables?
Kybella offers a non-surgical alternative to procedures like liposuction or neck lift surgery. It involves a series of injections into the submental area, which are typically well-tolerated by patients. This makes it an attractive choice for those specifically looking to target neck fat.
