What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive treatment that sculpts and tightens the body by freezing unwanted fat cells. The procedure uses monitored cooling (cryolipolysis) to freeze and eliminate fat cells, which can help tone and contour the body. At JEM Medspa in Elmhurst and Orland Park, IL, our skilled team uses advanced CoolSculpting to help you attain your cosmetic and health goals. Please schedule an appointment and learn more about CoolSculpting. We are dedicated to helping you enhance your natural beauty.

Who Qualifies for CoolSculpting?

Even though this innovative technique is safe and effective for most women and men of all age groups, those likely to benefit from CoolSculpting include:

  • Patients at or near their ideal weight
  • Patients who have stubborn areas of fat that don't respond to natural weight loss efforts
  • Patients who are not ideal candidates for more invasive procedures
  • Patients who have realistic expectations for the results of their treatment

CoolSculpting candidates should not have chronic pain conditions or lymphatic issues.

Our CoolSculpting Technique

During your consultation with one of our skilled team members, we will discuss your goals and tailor a treatment plan that aligns with your needs. Once we have completed your consultation, we will take you back to one of our spacious treatment rooms and ask you to relax on a comfortable chair. Next, a gel pad and the CoolSculpting handpiece is placed on the treatment area. The specialized handpiece will emit cryolipolysis or cooling technology to target and freeze the fat. You will likely feel a cooling sensation, but typically, this does not cause any pain. Because the applicator uses suction to pull the targeted fat cells toward the treatment area, you will feel a slight pulling or stinging, but these are completely normal feelings.

What to Expect

Since the CoolSculpting is nonsurgical, you can return to daily activities following your treatment. Side effects of the procedure usually include stinging, redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness near the treatment site. In the next couple of days, these symptoms should subside on their own. Generally, patients will notice results after three weeks. You should experience optimal results within 1 – 3 months after your CoolSculpting treatment. To achieve your desired results, we will help you determine how many follow-up treatments you may need.
