The Halo laser is a hybrid fractional laser that simultaneously delivers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths of laser energy to the skin. One laser targets the skin’s outer layer, the epidermis. The second laser creates fractional channels into the dermis, the skin’s middle layer. This is especially effective for removing sun damage, both the damage you can see and the damage you cannot see. The energy delivered into the epidermis is absorbed by sun-damaged areas, causing pigment from the damaged skin to rise to the surface and peel off within a few days. The energy delivered into the dermis triggers collagen remodeling and skin regeneration, improving the skin from beneath.
Topical anesthetic is applied 30-60 minutes prior to treatment. The topical anesthetic combined with Halo’s cooling technology helps with comfort during the procedure. You can expect four to seven days of downtime. Skin will be red with swelling and peppering. The peppering or MENDs (microscopic, epidermal, necrotic debris) will slough off completely by day seven and your “Halo Glow” will start to appear five and seven days after all of the treated skin has sloughed off. The amount of sessions needed will be different for everyone. During your consultation your provider will evaluate your skin, discuss your goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan for you.
